Why we built SwiftCode
JV is a charge nurse at a psychiatric facility in Sacramento. Every shift, he watched the same pattern: a patient becomes combative, a CNA yells for help, someone runs to find a radio, the radio's on the wrong channel, the charge nurse doesn't know where it's happening. By the time help arrives, the window for de-escalation has passed.
This isn't a tech problem. It's a coverage problem. The tools exist — Vocera, TigerConnect, Stryker — but they cost $50K+ in hardware, require months of installation, and are designed for big-budget hospital systems. The other 87% of facilities? They get nothing.
SwiftCode started as a translation tool for multilingual staff. But on the floor, JV realized the bigger crisis wasn't language — it was the chaos of emergency response itself. So we pivoted. We built a communication platform that runs on Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad — devices staff already carry. No hardware. No infrastructure. Deploy in days, not months.
Today, SwiftCode is two products: Comms for emergency code response and incident messaging, and Teams for staff coordination and facility operations. Together, they give the 87% the same caliber of tools that only the top 13% could afford before.
